Home Staging with Moldings

Home staging with moldings is a fast and inexpensive way to make a big difference in the aesthetic appeal of your home. Decorative moldings are more popular than ever and truly give any room a more finished and sophisticated look. Moldings come in a wide variety of different styles and can be used in many areas and applications throughout your house or apartment.

Home Staging with Moldings / Options

Home Staging with Moldings Moldings can be used in traditional or non-traditional ways in interior design. Traditional molding applications are usually performed along the seam where the floor meets the wall (baseboard molding) and where the ceiling meets the wall (crown molding). Baseboard moldings are almost always found in every home, although their style and decorative potential may vary greatly. Crown molding is not found in all homes, but is an easy add-on which will draw the eye upwards to show off a high ceiling, as well as the architectural detailing of the molding itself.

Non-traditional applications for moldings are also terrific solutions for many home staging issues. Moldings make great decorative trim for any project and can be used to finish off rough areas around doors, windows or stairways. One of my favorite applications of molding is when it is used to create raised panel designs on otherwise plain and boring walls. A few minutes work can completely enhance any wall, making it come to life with renewed interest and classic elegance.

Home Staging with Moldings / Application

Moldings are very easy to buy, cut and install, making them an ideal complement to a DIY home staging plan. Moldings are not expensive and can be purchased in unfinished or prefinished styles, in a wide range of materials from wood to composite to resin. Installing moldings is easy with a miter saw, some construction adhesive and a nail gun. If you do not have these tools, they can be rented for a low daily cost. When installing moldings, remember to join all angles first and cut the straight sections last. This way, all the joints will be smooth and seamless. Always measure twice and then cut, to avoid waste and error. Other handy tools for molding installation include a level, an assistant and some patience…

Home Staging with Moldings / Advice

For adding architectural interest and texture, there is no solution which is as fast, inexpensive and easy to do as molding installation. This is truly a project which virtually anyone can successfully complete without hiring a pro. Most of the work is measuring, while the installation itself is very easy. I highly recommend molding installation to anyone trying to maximize the profit from their home sale. For an investment of a $200 to $400, you are likely to see a return of several thousand!
This is easy money!
