Kids Room Staging

Kids room staging is an easy way to improve the aesthetic appeal of children’s bedrooms throughout the home. Kid’s rooms are notoriously nightmarish for home stagers to deal with, since many children have a difficult time keeping their spaces neat and orderly. It is crucial to allow children to take part in the staging design, in order to really explain the value of a neat and organized space and how it can help sell the property faster and for more money.

Kids Room Staging Tips

Children’s’ rooms have a tendency of being disorganized and cluttered. Here, the space should be neatly arranged, with lots of storage (more than required) and only a few cute items on display. Additional possessions can be put in covered storage or packed away for the big move. Bedding should be gender neutral, as should the color palate of the room. Although decorative borders, wallpaper and ceiling art are nice for your children, they can be a big liability for new owners. It is better to neutralize these details before listing the house for sale. Decluttering is the easiest staging strategy for children’s rooms and will provide the most impact for the least cost and effort.

Kids Room Staging Solutions

Always provide a dedicated desk area to encourage good study habits and enhance the space with lots of lighting. Place a few pieces of age appropriate art, but lose posters and other casual décor which may be taped or tacked to the walls. Use proper proportion to make the room appear larger and do not place too much furniture in the space. Keep the design simple, airy and sparse for maximum benefit. Do not forget to clean and organize the closet, since potential buyers will indeed open it to have a look inside. If there are too many items in the closet, it will look small, dark and unappealing. Remove excess personal items and place in toy chests or better yet, pack them up to get ready for your new home.

Kids Room Staging Advice

Explaining home staging to children can be fun and easy for parents who take the time and effort. Make the kids a part of the plan and give them incentive to help you maintain the staged look once it is complete. Let them know that a clean and beautiful house will sell faster and for more money. To sweeten the deal, offer to reward them for their help with a gift or bonus in the new home. Do not make them feel bad about changing their room décor, but instead, let them know that they can set up their new rooms in even better and more exciting ways once you all move…

Take care to preserve your children’s feelings when staging their space. Do not be too invasive and explain everything to them. If you do this correctly, they will be delighted to assist you, rather than complaining every step of the way!
