Home Staging Interior Lighting

Home staging interior lighting means to improve the aesthetic appeal of the various methods of illumination inside the home. Interior lighting is a crucial component of good home staging design and is an inherent part of the overall décor. Lighting is more than a functional utility. It is also an artistic expression of the style of the home and an ideal way to bring out the already present charms of any indoor space.

Home Staging Indoor Lighting

Many of the homes that I see are dark and dysfunctional. Natural light has often been limited or eliminated through inappropriate window treatment choices or poor furniture placement. Additionally, artificial lighting is rarely present in abundance and is typically limited to direct overhead fixtures, which only provide one type of illumination. Bedrooms and living rooms are by far the worst offenders, with insufficient overall illumination and not enough varieties of lighting to suit the demands of the space.

Home Staging Interior Lighting Solutions

Home staging techniques can be used to bring out the natural light in any room and enhance the space with artificial lighting in a variety of possibilities:

* Lighten up window treatments to allow more natural light to enter the room. Avoid placing large items near windows, as these will constrict the space and limit light into the environment.

* Add lighting options to increase the direction and presence of artificial illumination. Besides overhead direct lighting, try adding some upward facing indirect light options, as well as indirect floor and table lamps at various levels.

* Install dimmers to utilize mood lighting techniques.

* Be sure to use high quality pure white bulbs to avoid that yellowish glow inherent to cheaper bulbs.

* Consider placing motion detectors on lighting fixtures in the bathrooms and stairways for ease of use and electrical conservation.

Home Staging Interior Lighting Advice

Interior illumination helps to increase the desirability of any space. Lighting is an inexpensive solution for any room and the décor enrichment enacted with proper lighting will be well worth the time and effort. Throughout all my years in the property business, one of the main buyer complaints about many homes is that they are TOO DARK. There is an easy solution for this… electric lights. Buy them. Use them. Please your buyers. Sell your home. Enough said…
